Paul is responsible for strategic planning of the development of a smart city.
Paul McKenney is the president of McKenney Financial Group, Inc. Paul and his highly qualified team are dedicated to the proposition that every client deserves the best financial solutions available.
In 1992, Paul entered the financial services field after serving nine years as an active duty U.S. Army pilot. He graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a BA from Eisenhower College and earned his MA in Public Administration from Minnesota State University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air War College.
Paul is a community leader, having served as chairman of the town council for Cape Elizabeth, Maine; president of the Greater Portland Council of Governments; president of the National Eagle Scout Association for Pine Tree Council, BSA; and a Board member of the Arizona Military Family Relief Fund. He is a member of Rotary International. Paul serves as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve as Chief Facilitator for Strategic War Games at the Center for Strategic Leadership and Development at the U.S. Army War College. Paul and his wife, Betsy, have three children all serving as active duty military officers. They have five grandchildren.
STRATEGIC PLANNING EXPERIENCE
2012-2013 - Phoenix Rotary 100 Executive Board member - Engaged in the development of a new strategic plan for the largest club in Arizona. Results include a new strategic plan that will guide the club for many years.
2008-2009 - Chairman of the Southern Maine Economic Development District. Leader of Comprehensive Regional Economic Development Planning. Resulting in a federally recognized Economic Development District. Significant economic opportunities for the region including millions of dollars in grant money to recapture commercial property and clean up contaminated land.
2008-2009 - President, Steering Committee member and Executive Board member of Greater Portland Council of Governments. Leader of Strategic Planning Committee. Seven Principles of Sustainability were developed and adopted, which now drive all planning moving forward. The planning engaged leaders in government, education and business. Results include a new comprehensive strategic plan adopted by twenty eight municipalities, supported by the higher education and business community. The plan focus was a balance between community enhancement, business development and environmental protection.
2007 - Town Council Chairman (Mayor), Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Leader of Cape Elizabeth Comprehensive Strategic Plan 2007. Completed planning and adopted ten year plan in 2007, resulting in significant municipal improvements, historic preservation, community development, and environmental protection.
2008 - present - President and CEO McKenney Financial Group Inc. Leading business strategic and succession planning. Transforming leadership and management practices optimizing continuity and business outcomes for clients. Optimizing financial outcomes for clients.
1999 - 2007 - President and CEO Dirigo Financial Group LLC. Providing comprehensive financial planning and wealth management services for individuals and businesses in the northeast United States.
2004-2010 - Executive Board member and president of Pine Tree Council, BSA National Eagle Scout Association. Served on Strategic Planning Committee in 2006. Results include a new plan leading to a new scout center and vastly expanded program opportunities for youth.
1996-1999 - Board member serving on the strategic planning committee for the Catholic Diocese of Portland school system consisting of 3 college preparatory high schools and 5 primary schools. Results include plan adoption and transformation of K-12 education system.
